What is an AP Class?

AP (Advanced Placement) courses are college-level classes offered in high school. Students have the opportunity to take an AP exam at the end of the course to potentially receive college credit.

Why Take AP?

AP courses can help students:

  • Challenge themselves academically
  • Develop college-level skills
  • Explore subjects they enjoy
  • Potentially earn college credit or placement through AP exam scores

AP Class ≠ AP Exam

Your course grade and AP exam score are separate. Colleges may award credit or placement based on AP exam scores, but policies vary by college. Most colleges will award college credit for a 3 or higher on an AP exam, but each college varies.
